Urgent news from Shalom 2010


Cancellation yes; but hope is not gone !


It has come to our attention that two events, similar to Shalom are taking place in the Birmingham and Oxford area on the 1st and 2nd of September therefore, in light of that we’re going to postpone the gathering. However, there is hope so please dry your eyes - Shalom will be delivered early in 2011 and we will contact you in October to confirm that!! Please know that our passion and commitment to Shalom hasn’t changed it is more a strategic decision where we would rather promote than compete against what seems to be two outstanding events for youth workers. These other events are below and attached and we would wholeheartedly recommend them to you.




Digging Deeper with Dave Andrews and Mark Yaconelli

Join Dave Andrews and Mark Yaconelli in an exploration of rootsy youth and community work and radical spirituality. Church Urban Fund, CMS and the Centre for Youth Ministry are hosting a couple of days in September to explore further useful ideas, thinking and practice to do with radical community and youth work.


Inspiring and practical, with time to dig deeper and discover more, each day will help to equip you in the work you do. We’re really pleased to welcome Dave Andrews for a day on community work, and Mark Yaconelli for a day on youth work, spirituality and young people.












Yet there is another way for Shalom people to meet in September


1. Go hear Mark on the 1st

2. Then on the 2nd join together with us in Birmingham for a time of open learning, peer discussions and spiritual space using the Open Space format which is open time to learn and share with each other on subjects you want to discuss. (The cost for Day Two is £15).

2. You may want a refund

a. If you would like a full refund then please email christine@easttowest.org.uk and she will facilitate that

b. If you would like to attend day 2 in September then email christine@easttowest.org.uk and she will refund you minus £15 fee for day 2

c. If you would like to attend Shalom in early 2011 then tell christine@easttowest.org.uk and we’ll keep the booking fee and you won’t have to pay later

  1. d.If you have already incurred cost’s for example hotels for Shalom then email christine@easttowest.org.uk with a receipt and you will get a full refund.




Again sorry about this but as we hope you will agree, there is little point in competition in the Kingdom
